The World Cup planner
A workspace for following a World Cup properly. Understand the tournament format, fill in your own groups and bracket, log predictions and score them against what actually happened, keep notes on every match you watch, and plan a trip around the host cities. Built to be reused for any edition, and everything stays on your device.
How the tournament works
The expanded format changed the shape of the competition, and most of the confusion around it comes from the knockout stage rather than the groups. Read this once and every fixture in the tournament makes sense.
Group builder
Fill in the twelve groups as the draw lands, then use the table to work out who needs what. Everything you type is saved on this device, so the sheet is still here when you come back for the next round.
Bracket
Work forward from the round of thirty two. Type a name into a slot and it carries into the next round automatically, so you can see the path to the final take shape as you go.
Prediction log
Write your call before the match, then come back and enter what actually happened. The log scores itself and keeps a running record, so you find out whether your instincts are any good rather than just remembering the ones you got right.
Match notes
One card per match you watch, with the things worth noticing rather than just the score. Build a record across a whole tournament and patterns appear that no highlights package will show you.
Host cities
Sixteen cities across three countries, spread over four time zones and climates that range from desert heat to Pacific coast mild. If you are travelling, the distances between them are the thing people underestimate most.

Watching well
Nine habits that turn a tournament from a month of background noise into something you actually understand. None of them require knowing anything technical.
